Speed Boats

Growing up a sailing family, I had a rather negative view of speed boats. speedboats and yachts have a traditional rivalry. To sailboat hobbyists, motor boats are a hazard and a menace. They kick up a lot of wake which causes sailboats to rock back and forth, spilling their wind. They go very fast, and occasionally collide with other boats. In short, speed boat racers are the ones who are ruining the lake for everyone. From the other side, people in motor boats see sailors as stuffy and stuck up. They are out there to have fun zooming across the lake, and they don't see why everyone else can not do the same.

Tips On How To Arrive At A Fair Used Boat Value

Buying used boats is not that difficult a proposition if you select the source for the used boat with care, and it is usually a good idea when buying a used boat for the first time to go to a dealer with a sound reputation who will be sure to provide you with a used boat that has good used boat value. Buying from private sellers may not be all that good a deal since you won't know whether to trust the seller and whether the used boat value is indeed going to prove to be a good buy or not. In addition, you need to take some things into account which will help you evaluate the used boat value which include boat maintenance history, inspection of the boat, condition of the hull, propeller of the used boat, boat storage as well as its upholstery, and also any boat extras, and you should also make it a point to check out a boat appraisal guide which will indicate whether the used boat value is right or not.

Maintenance History Of The Boat

The first thing you need to do is to look at the boat's maintenance history which will show you what work has been performed on the boat in the recent past, and it will also give you an idea of how the owner has kept the boat, which will help you arrive at a fair used boat value for the boat in question.

Next, you need to physically inspect the boat and take a marine mechanic along with you, and even though this can cost you a bit of money, it will help save you a lot of worry in the future, and you will also get a rough idea about the proper used boat value for the boat in question. And, while inspecting the boat makes sure to check belts, alternators, spark arrestors as well as plugs, hoses as well as blower, strainer, shift cables and also alignment of the engine.

Another important aspect to determining the used boat value is the condition of the boat's hull and here you must check whether there is mismatched paint and dry rot, and even look for the presence of gel blistering as well as for the presence of holes in the hull, and generally ensures that the hull is solid and in good condition.

Other factors that will govern the fair used boat value include the boat's propeller's condition, boat storage which should be dry and well maintained, condition of upholstery and whether the boat comes with any boat extras. However, the best way of arriving at a fair used boat value is to buy the local appraisal guide which will show you what the expected current used boat value of the boat could be, and that should help you form an educated guess as to whether the value is right or not for the boat in question.

Speed Boat Designed For Independent Navigation

Essentially, by sticking a motor on the back of just about any boat can classify it as a speed boat, regardless of how fast it slides through the water. There are three basic classifications of boats, manual power, wind power and a speed boat. The need for speed is not as important as the means by which the boat is moved from one point to another.

Manual powered boats are pushed through the water with oars and people power. The speed at which they travel is contingent on the number of oars in the water and the strength and stamina of the people using the oars. While some of the small, racing row boats can move along at a pretty good clip, they cannot be defined as a speed boat due to the manual nature of their power. A sail boat may also include a motor for use moving in and out of a harbor or dock, but its primary source of power is the wind.

This could be considered one of the first vessels to use hybrid power, with the wind being primary and a motor, or even oars used when there is wind, Despite having an onboard motor, it is not truly a speed boat, even when the sails and are not unfurled and catching the wind.

There Is Difference Between Racing And Speed Boat

To many, the term speed boat conjures up images of low riding, sleek boats skimming across the water faster than the cars they drove to the lake. These racing boats are capable of reaching speeds that can make a grown man cry out of fear, and while their speed may be ridiculous, they are classified as racing boats and not speed boats.

In the most general sense, a speed boat is a craft with motor mounted either as an inboard or outboard motor, designed to push the boat through the water at speeds that can range from about five miles per hour to upwards of 50 or 60 miles per hour. They are mostly used for pleasure cruising but, depending on their design can be used for water skiing and other sports.

A smaller speed boat is often used for a variety of purposes such as skiing, fishing and pleasure. The average size is between 18 and 24-feet carrying an outboard motor ranging from 25 to 150-horsepower. While boat and motor size vary be user, the average boat length and its power source is suitable for most casual boaters.

Big Beautiful Sail Boats

What is a sail boat? A sail boat is a vessel that is propelled through the water entirely or partly by sails. These types of sailing craft are often seen dotting the waters in warm tropical places. What better way to spend the afternoon then sailing through the beautiful aquamarine waters of some tropical location. There are many different types of sail boats to choose from.

Big ones, little ones, even teeny tiny ones that children can pilot all by themselves. These boats can have brightly colored sails or plain white sails. Sometimes the hull itself is a bright color. When there are many of these boats sailing, the colors are breathtaking dotting the sea. Sail boats are not just used for pleasure sailing but there is also highly anticipated events held each year that involve racing these great boats with only the wind to guide them.

Types Of Sail Boats

A sail boat can be distinguished by not only its size but by the way the hull is configured. What it is used for (its purpose) and the different types of keel that each boat has. How many masts the boat has is also a good way to tell different types of sail boats apart. The sail boat that is most seen out sailing is the sloop. This boat has one mast and two sails; therefore, it is very good at sailing towards the wind. Sloops are popular racing boats and can be seen in almost every tropical location.

After the sloop, the cutter is the most common sail boat that can be seen dotting tropical waters. A cutter is not very different from a sloop; it has a mainsail and a single mast, but uses two headsails instead of one. These boats are also used for racing as well as pleasure. Perhaps the boat that most people find extrordinary is the schooner. This beautiful boat has two or more masts and is used for pleasure cruises, but is definitely an awesome sight when all of its sails are up.

When taking a trip to some tropical location a person would be silly to pass up an opportunity to take a trip on a sail boat. These great vessels of the sea are an attraction themselves and a possible missed chance at a ride on one would be a source of great regret. These beautiful boats are not only fun to sail, but a learning experience where you get to see the inner workings of what it takes to actually keep a sail boat running in all of the oceans of the world.

Jet Boat: Taking Your Family On An Exhilarating Ride

Due to the demands of our careers, many your parents are now estranged from their own children. In many cases, young parents have to hold two jobs just to meet the growing needs of the family. If you are one of those parents who have drifted away from their children, now is the right time to get to know your children all over again. Spending a few days with your children and enjoying activities like jet boat rides with your children will help melt down the tension between you. Jet boat rides are very exhilarating that people often feel less stressed out after the ride.

What Is A Jet Boat?

Jet boats are just like bowriders that has spacious seating area. It has a swim platform where you and your family can gather together in case you want a dip in the water. This type of vessel generally has little or no windshield at all so you get that feeling of being blown away. Jet boats are built for fast maneuvers, offering a very exciting ride for the whole family.

Taking The Kids For A Jet Boat Ride

If you have very small children, it would be best not to bring along the little ones during the ride. Very small children do not like the slap of the wind on their faces and there is a possibility that they will have difficulty breathing if the wind hits their faces really hard constantly. Besides, very young children still cannot appreciate the idea of an exhilarating ride. On the other hand, older children will definitely have a lot of fun riding a jet boat. Children age five and above are more likely to enjoy the ride compared to their younger counterparts.

When taking your children on a jet boat ride, make sure that all of them are wearing proper swimming attire and lifejackets. Although jet boats are generally safe to ride in, you cannot discount the possibility of you children falling into the water. Now, just because your kids know how to swim that does not mean that they are exempted from wearing life jackets. If your kid insists on not wearing a life jacket during the ride, talk to him/her gently about the dangers of falling off into the water. Do not start shouting at your kid to put on his or her lifejacket. Telling your child that he or she needs to get off the jet boat if he or she does not wear a lifejacket will not make your relationship with your kids better. Besides, there is really no point of fighting with your kids during your vacation. Just keep your cool but be firm. Eventually, your kid will give in if he or she knows that you mean business.

The Wonderful World Of Fishing Boats

Fishing has been a source of survival since time began. Fishing started by just throwing a spear in the water and hoping you would hit something. Eventually someone thought up the idea to build a vessel that could take you farther out to sea where the fish actually are. The term fishing boat was born out of this idea. For centuries the livelihood of some cultures depended on these fishing boats to provide food for the entire village. The men would go out for weeks at a time in hopes of finding the "big catch". Being on a fishing boat was and is a very dangerous profession; people die all of the time chasing the big fish.

Of course the fishing boats of today are very different than the fishing boats of long ago. There are also different types of fishing in the modern world. People fish for sport; always in search of the bigger fish. Some people fish purely for pleasure and can sit for hours on a lake not even caring if they actually catch anything.

And of course people still fish for food and in some states this is still a major economic industry. But there is one thing all of these fishermen have in common; they all need fishing boats. Fishing boats and fishermen have come along way since the first boat was built and they have evolved into very interesting and innovative vehicles.

Types Of Fishing Boats

There are many different types of fishing boats for the different types of water terrain. Every type of boat has a different number of engines; some have more deck space than others and some of these boats even have a place below deck where you can eat lunch or take a nap. Offshore saltwater boats are designed to operate in any condition the ocean can throw at you so they are perfect for long trips out to sea.

Inshore saltwater boats are designed for shallower waters so if you are putt-putting around the marshes or inland coves this is the boat for you. The bass boat is rides fast and low in the water and comes in many colors. These boats do not hold many people and are not made for long trips. For leisurely lake fishing, the freshwater fishing boat is just what you are looking for. This boat is perfect for a relaxing day of fishing on the lake. Whatever your preference weather it be for food, sport or leisure there is a fishing boat made for every occasion.
